Final Friday Book Club - In Conquest Born

In Conquest Born is a 1986 science fiction novel by American author C. S. Friedman, which was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 1988. The novel blends elements of space opera, anthropological science fiction, and military science fiction. The story takes place in the distant future where two societies of humans, the Azeans and Braxins, vie for control of their proximate interstellar territory, each using its distinctive talents and abilities.

Told using multiple points of view, news articles, and intelligence reports the book explores humanity, race, genetic superiority, and humanities need for conflict. C. S. Friedman has written 13 full length novels and multiple short works. She was nominated for the John W Campbell award for Best New Writer in 1988, her novel This Alien Shore was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year in 1998, and The Coldfire Trilogy was a finalist for NPR's Science Fiction and Fantasy Vote.
