Except it wasn’t the final countdown

So, ok… Last time I updated the blog we thought we were in the final stages of getting into our new location. We just needed to get through the plumbing inspection and we were in the home stretch. It should have been easy.

Narrator Voice: It was not easy

The Tl;Dr version is I hired a company to install the grease interceptors required by the health department and the plumber they subcontracted to did a very bad job. We’ve since hired someone else and are trying to get open in November.

The much longer version involves three failed inspections, a fair bit of arguing, ultimately firing the original vendors and getting refunded. It’s a saga, which I might eventually feel like telling. Right now I’m still living it and figuring out if I want to pursue legal action for the delays (so no naming names and minimal details). I also don’t really want to wallow in the negativity of the situation. It’s been a big ball of suck and I don’t want it to take away from all the cool shit we’ve accomplished in the mean time. Like our buying our new oven!

I’m gonna bake so many cakes in this baby! We’ll be doing a poll later to decide which Vulcan to name it after (I’m leaning toward either Tuvok or T’Pau but I wanna hear your thoughts), so stay tuned to our socials. We’ve also upgraded our freezer storage with a brand new 2 door freezer and a bigger stand mixer. As soon as we’re able to get in there and start baking there’s so much we’ll be able to do. The waiting just sucks. A lot.

On the bright side, we still have a home and can keep baking and making syrups (hello PSL Season) and hanging out with all of you. We’ll keep dreaming of the day we can announce our actual opening weekend and make plans to party with all of you. There will still be cake, because gorramit I WANT CAKE! And after all this we deserve something nice, lol.
