Count Down to Keys

In exactly 11 days we officially get the keys to our new location. HOLY SHIT! I’m not suddenly feeling the stress, you’re suddenly feeling the stress…

Here’s the sequence of events as we currently know them:

March 15 - We get the keys. This ancient ceremony will involve the burning of incense and the ritual sacrifice of a coffee mug. Probably one of the 20 ounce size. We’ll bury the ashes under a hawthorn tree and say the special incantation as is traditional among baristas of the Seattle area.

March 27 or 28 - Werk Party! If you want to join us in our first ever party where we SCRUB ALL THE THINGS and start making a workable office and storage space, please fill out this Google Form. We will reward your toil with pizza and beer (and snacks and non-alcoholic options). We’ll have tools and solvents, but recommend bringing work gloves and any hand tools, brooms, drills, etc you might have that could be useful.

April 4 - Construction begins! Our awesome team from Total Home Improvement is going to smash things! And then rebuild them into more of a ramp shape! I really like exclamation points! But in all seriousness, this build is going to mean that anyone with mobility issues, or who just prefers walking up ramps rather than stairs, will be able to safely travel between the two halves of the store without having to resort to going outside, traveling up the sidewalk, and coming back inside (which we all agree would be a bullshit option).

Mid- April and on - Once the ramp is built our electrician comes in and gets us set up for success. And stable electricity. We don’t have the exact dates for this project but expect it to run the second half of April. Once that’s completed we’re back in for more cleaning, laying of floors, painting. building tables/shelves, and all the remaining construction. Stay tuned for more on this epic undertaking.
